Keeping the crib – or not?
There's no optimal time to move your child to a big-kid bed. Some families make the switch to free up the crib for a younger sibling. (If that's you, start the process several months before your due date so your toddler doesn't link being kicked out of his bed with his baby brother or sister's arrival.) Others stick with the crib until their child is 3 or so.
Don't be too quick to make the move if you can avoid it. Keep in mind that once your child is in a bed, he can get up whenever he likes during the night. For that reason, many experienced parents advise keeping your child in the crib as long as you possibly can. Your child who slept so well in his crib is likely to start waking you up again.
Charlotte is moving into her new big girl bedroom after this weekend! We have painted the room and curtains are being delivered today so we can put the finishing touches together. I started moving over her books and clothes from room to room. I do a little bit more each day and she helps so it isnt such a shock to her when next week rolls around. We have made this a HUGE deal to Charlotte so she is excited and not mad when baby boy gets here. Plus we are doing it early enough so that she does not think baby boy will stealing her room.
Charlotte has started showing Big Sis characteristics already! She changes her Teddy Bear's diapers all the time .. they dont always get on the right way but hey she gets the concept and we are hoping she will want to help us out with baby boy!
