March Madness

Whats new this week with Charlotte: 1) She has learned to put her purse on her shoulder and sit in her little tikes car and wave while saying "bye-bye". We wondered why she was doing this but then I left to run some errands and realized I had my purse on waving bye bye in my car! She is such a little sponge. 2) She can point out your nose and your eyes but just this week she can point out her own nose and her own eyes! She grows every week!

In Kc cheering on the Jayhawks! Too bad they lost against VCU
:(

Your toddler now( 15months 3 weeks)
Keeping small hands busy keys, pencils, lipstick, phones: All may be fascinating to your toddler. These objects are fun to look at and manipulate, and when your toddler sees you using them, he wants to do the same.
The problem is, you might not want him demolishing your lipstick! (And many of these items, including lipstick, can be toxic or pose a choking hazard.) Your challenge is to find things he can safely use to satisfy his need to mimic – like a set of plastic keys, an old purse of yours with a hairbrush and comb, a cheap wallet. There are plenty of other ways to keep your toddler's hands occupied for more than a minute or two. For example, fill a laundry basket with safe odds and ends, such as plastic containers and lids, scarves, hats, and wooden spoons and other big utensils. He'll love getting his hands on objects that look like they have a purpose and trying to figure out how to use them.

How baby Dugger is growing:

This week's big developments: Your baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his thumb! Thanks to brain impulses, his facial muscles are getting a workout as his tiny features form one expression after another. His kidneys are producing urine, which he releases into the amniotic fluid around him — a process he'll keep up until birth. He can grasp, too, and if you're having an ultrasound now, you may even catch him sucking his thumb.
In other news: Your baby's stretching out. From head to bottom, he measures 3 1/2 inches — about the size of a lemon — and he weighs 1 1/2 ounces. His body's growing faster than his head, which now sits upon a more distinct neck. By the end of this week, his arms will have grown to a length that's in proportion to the rest of his body. (His legs still have some lengthening to do.) He's starting to develop an ultra-fine, downy covering of hair, called lanugo, all over his body. Though you can't feel his tiny punches and kicks yet, your little pugilist's hands and feet (which now measure about 1/2 inch long) are more flexible and active.

I have completed 14 weeks so I am now in my 15th week! This past week I had a horrible cold and am now starting to feel much better thanks to Zpack. Man are Zpacks magic or what!
Somedays I think boy and some days I think girl..still clueless. We are looking forward to finding out the sex so we can start our planning for the nursery and Charlotte's big girl room! We will find out this May just in time for Mother's day!

My 15 month 2 week old toddler and my 13 week shrimp

My 15 month old Toddler:

Whining and screaming: If your 15-month-old has started sounding like a hyena or worse, you're experiencing his intense desire to interact with you. Children thrive on their parents' attention, and a toddler this age will do just about anything to get yours. Man is that the truth! Charlotte will do anything to get our attention! She has started grunting when she wants something or to be picked up.

New things this week: 1) She randomly said "eye" and then pointed to my eye! She said it perfectly like she had been thinking about it for 15 months! She now can point out eyes, nose, mouth, teeth and hair. She is working on ears. 2) We are trying to introduce a spoon during meal times. It will take a while but she is getting the hang of it. 3) We will start brushing her 2 teeth tonight! I will keep you posted on this one.. i dont know how this will go down :)

Here are some photos of this week!

what is that?

Wait this isnt a toy . . . this is work

I dont want to work. I want to play!

My 13 week Shrimp ( I've also heard a plum or peach)

Fingerprints have formed on your baby's tiny fingertips, her veins and organs are clearly visible through her still-thin skin, and her body is starting to catch up with her head — which makes up just a third of her body size now. If you're having a girl, she now has more than 2 million eggs in her ovaries. Your baby is 3 inches long (the size of a medium shrimp) and weighs nearly an ounce.

No bump yet but I think it will appear earlier this pregnancy!

12 week Ultrasound

We went in for our 12 week ultrasound this week! Our Due date is September 28th (grandpa Jerry's birthday and will make the babies will be 21 months apart!) Charlotte came along with us which made it extra special. She didnt really know what was going on but she was glued to the screen with the rest of us! The baby was sleeping with his/her arms up with the hands bye the ears... just snoozin away! Until we listened for the heartbeat he/she woke right up and was boucing around like he/she was on a trampoline! The heartbeat was 160 so it is still a little hard to predict the gender just yet.

this is what we saw..

We are excited to be out of the first trimester! that was a doozie.. I dont remember feeling that nauseous with Charlotte but every pregnancy is totally or so I hear from other mamas. I am craving anything and everything strawberry!!Strawberries on cereal, straberries on icecream, strawberries on salads, plain strawberries, strawberry smoothies, etc...

So here we go on a new journey of growing from 3 to 4!

Little Facts about growing Baby #2
The most dramatic development this week: reflexes. Your baby's fingers will soon begin to open and close, his toes will curl, his eye muscles will clench, and his mouth will make sucking movements. In fact, if you prod your abdomen, your baby will squirm in response, although you won't be able to feel it. His intestines, which have grown so fast that they protrude into the umbilical cord, will start to move into his abdominal cavity about now, and his kidneys will begin excreting urine into his bladder.
From crown to rump, baby-to-be is over 2 inches long (the size of a lime) and weighs half an ounce.

Updates and a New Tooth!

Charlotte now has two teeth!! Both of her lower central incisors! I feel like we have been working on this one for a while. Charlotte is still drooling like crazy and her gums are still swollen so Im guessing number three is around the corner. I will try to get a picture soon!

Here are a couple of new things Charlotte is doing these days..
  • She has grown an entire inch since Decemeber.
  • When you ask her where her teeth are she points to them to show them off! Same with her hair!
  • if you ask where the lights are she points at them.
  • She has a purse that she puts on by herself and walks around the house and gets in her little tike car with it and drives around. wonder where she learns all of this?
  • Her vocabulary grows daily. Today she started saying "hat".. but it sounds like "hit". Other words that she says on a daily basis are "mama" "dada" "sock" "hair" "baba(bottle)" "nighnigh" "uh-oh" "nana (banana-her favorite food)" "heloooo(as she talks into her cellphone)" "hi" "byebye" "no" "bath" "duck" "quack" "woof woof" "baabaa(sheep)" she is working on soo many more.
  • She likes most food except scambled eggs, peas, and broccoli.
  • Charlotte loves to give hugs
  • She has walking down and is working on running.
  • She can crawl up stairs-dont worry we have put BABYGATES so this doesnt happen!
  • She is really ticklish on her feet and tummy!
  • She is in 12-18month clothes right now but she could fit into 18-24m or 2T.
  • She dances to anything and everything and has several moves she has perfected-the booty shake, hands in the air, and the shake your entire body!
  • Her hair has a little curl to it and is almost the right length for ponytails!
